Soldering

Yesterday I went to my friend's beach house and his grandfather taught us how to solder. It is used for connecting wires together to make a circuit.

What you need:

Different sizes of wires (small ones are easiest)

Special soldering pliers (found at Home Depot)

Soldering iron (also found at Home Depot)

Solder

First, plug in the soldering iron and make sure it's hot.

Then, get two wires (the same size) and find the two indents on the blade of the pliers. when you close the pliers, that is where the wire should go.

Hold the wire in place as you tug on the wire. This should strip it. Note: only strip the tip of both sides of the wire.

Take the wire and place it near the solder. Take the iron and put it against the wire and the solder. This should turn the stripped part silver. Do the same thing with the other side.

Twist the two tips of the wire together a couple of times.

Then, take the twisted tip of the wire and hold it against the solder. Take the iron and place it against the wire and solder. This should hold the tips of the wires in place.
